Terraviva launches CANDELO URBAN LINK, a new international competition that challenges participants to transform an overlooked square in the heart of a Piedmontese village into an inclusive, vibrant public space, reconnecting its split levels and reimagining its role as a civic landmark.
Prizes up to 12.000 € will be awarded to the winners selected by an international jury panel composed, among others, by Barbara Acquadro Maran (Comune di Candelo), Stefano Recalcati (Arup), Lucia Paci (Operastudio) and Toufic Rifai (Lombardini 22).
简介 / BRIEF
竞赛选址坐落在皮埃蒙特村庄中的一座中世纪广场，因陡峭的地势变化而显得支离破碎，缺乏鲜明的个性。本次竞赛邀请设计师构思如何将其改造成一个通达的多功能空间——既是学生和家庭的日常通道，也是社区居民充满活力的聚会场所。
挑战的核心在于重新设计广场上下层之间的连接，用坡道系统取代或整合现有的楼梯，使其成为场地的标志性特征。围绕这一核心干预措施，鼓励参赛者为整个空间构建一个整体愿景：重新规划停车场，穿插绿化和遮阳区域，并增添城市家具、体育设施和灵活空间。
Through the design of a proper Open-Air Museum, "Living Ruins II" aims to collect projects capable of guaranteeing the conservation and revalorisation of such a unique Turkish heritage.
As stated in its own title, this competition attempts to counteract the current status of "Ghost Town" attributed to Dereiçi. By inviting visitors to spend more time exploring and appreciating the area, Slow Tourism could foster a deeper connection to the site, promoting virtuous practices and supporting the local economy.
Participants will be asked to design a museography concept that will transform Dereiçi into a dynamic living exhibition. The project should seamlessly blend historical elements with contemporary interventions.

“坎德洛城市连接”秉承“战术城市主义”的原则——推广轻量化、适应性强且经济高效的解决方案，并带来持久的影响。其目标是将功能性改进与强烈的视觉识别相结合，将一个被忽视的角落改造成一个温馨的城市地标，在尊重城镇遗产的同时，融入当代公共空间的理念。
广场不应再被视为或让人觉得只是一条单纯的通道，而应被视为一个温馨的户外客厅：一个可供聚会、休息、娱乐和互动的场所。
Candelo Urban Link embraces the principles of Tactical Urbanism - promoting lightweight, adaptable and cost-effective solutions capable of delivering a lasting impact. The goal is to pair functional improvements with a strong visual identity, turning a neglected corner into a welcoming civic landmark that honours the town’s heritage while embracing a contemporary vision of public space.
The square should no longer be perceived or experienced as a mere passage, but as a welcoming outdoor living room: a place to meet, rest, play and interact.
